THE LEBARA MOBILE UK ASIAN MUSIC AWARDS 2010

Asian Runway was lucky enough to get exclusive access to the Lebara Mobile UK Asian Music Awards 2010 at the Royal Festival Hall, London, 11th March:

We saw a host of British Asian, Urban and International talent come together to celebrate what has been a phenomenal year for the British Asian music industry.

Hosted by BBC Asian Network’s Bobby Friction and Bollywood actress Sophie Choudry, the Lebara Mobile UK Asian Music Awards (UK AMAs) saw spectacular performances from a variety of talent from across the globe including Dutch ‘desi’ Imran Khan, Universal’s latest dance diva Jaya, rising Urban star Mumzy Stranger, Bollywood superstars RDB, Bhangra heartthrob Jaz Dhami and the legendary Talvin Singh.

An exciting mix of celebrities graced the Lebara Mobile ‘Blue Carpet’ including world champion boxer Amir Khan, number one rappers Chipmunk & DJ Ironik. The Sugababes were also in attendence and gave an electrifying performance

Asian Runway love to see what the garments are saying and this year there was a huge variety!
Eastenders star Preeya Kalidas turned heads in a stunning fusion gown. “I told my tailor how to design it,” she said about her sexy number. I absolutely loved the pattern on the side of her face, very eastern monsoon indeed!
Imran Khan surprisingly ditched the ultra smart black tie look for a casual denim jacket and jeans look. Even though I’m not feeling this old school 90’s look I guess he wasn’t looking so blue as he left winning ‘Best Desi Act.’

Amir Khan played it safe an opted for the clean crisp grey suit with a white shirt, nothing like a good looking guy in a suit, least we know he don’t play it safe in the ring, ding ding!

The night belonged to Brit Asian star Jay Sean, who cleaned up all four of his nominations to pick up the Best Male, Best Album, Best Video and Best Urban act awards. As always Jay looked ever so street, rocking a cool look oozing style!

Our very own Lady Gaga; Kazz Kumar is always being innovative with her style. We could not miss her from the classy flower piece in her hair to the white edgy dress; you either love it or you hate it! I always admire people who break from the norm and go extreme and boy oh boy she really is a head turner.
